ARE YOU SETTLING FOR LESS THAN YOU DESERVE?

Most people suffer from low self-love in one or more areas of their lives, and don't even realise it! Often because they refuse to accept it.  We have been socially conditioned to think that to have good self-concept, or self-love, is to be vain.  This is a major misconception that cripples us horribly. Vanity is really a lack of self-love, or self-esteem.  Vanity is the needing of approval of others, the idea that money or accumulations make you more important, your popularity.  These are all outside conditions, and have nothing whatsoever to do with your true inner feelings of acceptance and love. Take the popularity, accumulations, money, or beautiful body or face away from a vain person, and what is left is a hollow, empty, sad human.

Self-concept is a very sensitive issue to those who suffer low self-love.  This in itself is already a sign of low self-love.  It is something we all need to work on constantly, until our beliefs about ourselves, our world and the people around us, have changed to beliefs that serve us and empower us.

People just don't want to know that they have poor self-love, and with so few good role models, how are they to know what good self-concept really is, or the benefits of good self-love, and therefore shirk assistance in this area.   So they go through life living in a rut, bowing to the needs of others, and never realising their full potential.

They experience difficulty in their relationships with others and usually end up shooting themselves in the foot.  This, of course, makes an even bigger knock in their already low self-love.  The more we love and accept ourselves, the more we are able to love and accept our partners, friends and colleagues, the better our relationships with these people will be.

Here are a few questions to help you determine if you have low self-love:
(Be really honest with yourself)

  • Do you take what people say, or do, personally?
  • Do you stand up for what you believe in?
  • Are you afraid of what other's may think of you?
  • Do you have feelings of inferiority or superiority around people?
  • Are you afraid to try new things in case you fail?
  • Do you look in  the mirror and think negative things about yourself?
  • Does your inner self-talk consist of putting yourself down, or negative words like 'can't'?
  • Do you build walls of protection around yourself to keep people from hurting you?
  • Are you often afraid to voice your opinion for fear of appearing stupid?
  • Do you take care of yourself by eating healthily, exercising and getting enough sleep?
  • Do you think you are worthy of  living a life of abundance, of having the kind of life you desire?
  • Do you constantly justify yourself with excuses for why you can't or have not done certain things?
  • Do you judge others or yourself, and have prejudices against anybody?
  • Are there any people that you have not forgiven, or that you resent, or despise?
  • Do you see yourself as better than others?
  • Are there any people in your life that you feel abuse you in any way?
  • Do you have trouble making decisions, and ask others their opinions?
  • Do you feel controlled by others?
To become aware of the fact that your self-love is lacking is half way to improving it.   If you have realised that:   Remember that nothings stays the same.  Look around you and you will see that plants and animals grow or die.... they never stay the same.  We are the same, our mental condition grows or slides.  Congratulations!  You're on the half mark!

Now empower yourself, reach your full potential, and learn good self-love.  Learn to truly love yourself.  Please read 5 Ways To Improve Your Self-Esteem, and do the exercises regularly.

BRAINS AND COURAGE, OR BULK AND BRAWN?

A wealthy man decided to go on a safari in Africa. He took his faithful pet dachshund along for company. One day, the dachshund starts chasing butterflies and before long the dachshund discovers that he is lost.

So, wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the obvious intention of having him for lunch
. The dachshund thinks, "OK, I'm in deep trouble now!" Then he noticed some bones on the ground close by, and immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap, the dachshund exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard. I wonder if there are any more around here." Hearing this, the leopard halts his attack in mid-stride, as a look of terror comes over him, and slinks away into the trees. "Whew," says the leopard. "That was close. That dachshund nearly had me." Meanwhile, a monkey, who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So, off he goes.

But the dachshund saw him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figured that something must be up.

The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard. The leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine." Now the dachshund sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back, and thinks, "What am I going to do now?" But instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet ... and, just when they get close enough to hear, the dachshund says..................

"Where's that darn monkey? Sent him off half an hour ago to bring me another leopard."
